The 'uncomfortable corset': a tragic misconception - 6 October 2011

How many times have you heard people complaining about how uncomfortable corsets are? I certainly have...I've heard it from friends, from acquaintances and even from reality TV stars (America's Next Top Model, anyone?).

Nonsense! There is absolutely NO reason to call a corset 'uncomfortable'. It's all a matter of fit. No different than if you put on a pair of ill-fitting pants; a bra one band size too small or cup size too big. Speaking of bras: there is always so much hype surrounding the importance of a proper bra fitting. If this is the case, why not take the time to get yourself a proper corset fitting? All you need is an internet connection and a tape measure. Then check out the fitting guide on Playgirl London (http://www.playgirllondon.co.uk/acatalog/Corset_Sizing_and_Fitting_Guide.html). Its as easy as that! Follow this guide and I promise when you receive your corset you will notice that when not fully laced, it will be larger about your bust and hips. As you lace it, it will comfortably hug your bust and waist and snuggly cinch in your waist.

Also, don't forget that it isn't all about waist training and tight lacing! If those are things that interest you, then you should be aware that it takes time and patience...No one achieves more thana 4 inch reduction on their first go wearing a corset. Your body needs to adjust!

As for those of you not looking to train your waist or tight lace, a corset measured at 4 inches less than your natural waist line will still offer you that enviable hourglass shape (and yes, you will be able to breathe comfortably!). The right fit will not only feel like a sartorial hug, it will also give you a drool-worthy feminine shape and elegant posture - Who doesn't want that?!

Have you ever complained about an uncomfortable corset? I want to know! Write me @ ms.sabrina.grey@gmail.com
